New Orleans Expat Claims Streaming JazzFest on WWOZ.org “Better Than Being There”

Streaming the Dream
Alexander, a freelance web designer, streamed the entire second weekend of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival from the comfort of the office/living room/kitchen of his $1800 per month studio apartment in Queens, New York.
“You know what,” said Alexander, “I’m glad I didn’t go.”
“There was no wait for Crawfish Bread, but I didn’t have any Crawfish Bread, so I sprinkled some Tony’s on toast.”
“It was just as good,” he added.
Alexander tried his best to replicate the experience of actually going to the Fest from his high school days, even going so far as to pay a stranger to park in his driveway, despite the fact that he does not own a car.
“And I didn’t get sunburned because it was 40 degrees and raining here,” said Alexander. “Perfect virtual JazzFest weather.”
A shirtless Alexander also partook of five-dollar beers, the everday cost at his local bodega, and set up a flagpole by his refrigerator so his girlfriend could find him.
“I heard Stevie Wonder on the Acura Stage, but the sound wasn’t all that great because the server connection kept getting timed out and I was too far away from the computer at the time.”
Bolstered by the success of this experience, Alexander plans to skip even more unforgettable events in his hometown.
“Next year, I’m thinking about ordering a King Cake online and skipping Mardi Gras entirely. I’ve got a link to some killer webcams on Bourbon Street and by Fat Harry’s.”
